The Penn Badgley-starring show actually was given a Season 2 by Lifetime before the first round ever pre- miered, but writer-producer Sera Gamble — who was one of the developers of the Caroline Kepnes novel for its television incarnation — has said that the second season ultimately didn't match up with Lifetime's "business model." Netflix actually has been the home of "You" from the start in other countries (the Season 1 episodes are now on the streaming service in the United States as well), so viewers abroad won't de- tect a difference in where to find it when the new stories begin, which could be before 2019 ends.
