The history of the Northwest
Arkansas Ozarks isn't just a story about
mountain folk in the hills. It begins
thousands of years ago with the formation
of the Ozark mountains, and with
the first Americans hunting game and
taking shelter in bluffs. It continues with
early settlers, wars, small town life and
booming growth and change. At The
Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in
Springdale, these stories come to life with
fun displays, cool artifacts and stories of
real people.
The museum is named for the
pioneer community of Shiloh, which
became Springdale in the 1870s.

private home and clinic of three country
doctors who lived in the space beginning
in 1926. Exhibits include an antique
horse buggy, medical instruments, a

located on the grounds of Prairie Grove
Battlefield State Park, the site of the
last major Civil War battle in Northwest
Arkansas, where 2700 men died.
