What are kids' favorite things about the Museum of Native American History? Delilah S. Age 4 ½ • Bentonville "The horses, and storytime. It was a story about turtles. I'm making a turtle." (craft activity) By Karen Rice Official Kids Mag Take a trip 14,000 years back in time at the Museum of Native American History in Bentonville. There you'll learn about the first people to inhabit the Americas, from South America to Alaska. You'll meet Tusker, the giant skeleton of a wooly mammoth. You'll see the largest Native American prehistoric tool display in the world, along with bows and arrows and knives. You'll see colorful clothes and pottery. You can hunt for arrowheads outside, and take one home with you! Museum curator Matt Rowe says kids really like the "touch and explore" table, where they can interact with different items. "That's the best way to learn," he says. Matt points out that kids are surprised by some of the things they find in the museum. "They come expecting to see something like a headdress, but the items from South America have been favorites, because they haven't seen them before. They're unexpected."
