These individuals will be providing a unique civic service to more than 1,000 individuals and families from our community. Volunteers should be computer savvy and willing to give at least 40 hours of donated service between Feb. 1 and April 15. As a TaxAide counselor you will receive outstanding training on the TaxWise software program and computers supplied by the I.R.S. The Butte Lake Road from 44 to the Lassen Volcanic National Park boundary should also be groomed on Friday for cross-country skiing. Hat Creek Ranger Dis- trict: Ashpan and Latour are 100% open and groomed with about 100 miles of trails. Snow is holding up very well due to cold temps, with 3-7' depending on the area in the system. A-1 thru A-10 and L-1 thru L-5 are groomed and done. Plans are to groom the outlying areas of Latour, as well as the lower 16 Road, on 01/24. Please watch for hazards, as with warming temps they could occur without warning. Arrests • Robert Charles Anderson, 47, Chester was arrested for torture, second degree robbery, false imprisonment with violence and two charges of prior prison with a new felony term. Bail was $1,000,000. • Brook Thomas Bonner, 24, Red Bluff was arrested for felony charges of battery with serious bodily injury, three charges of prior prison with a new felony term, two charges of misdemeanor second degree burglary and misdemeanor vandalism. Bail was $91,000. • Peter Lewis Fracchia, 36, Los Molinos was arrested for three felony counts of insufficient funds in a checking account and a misdemeanor of fraudulently removing property. Bail was $5,000. • Edward Andrew Marro, 32, Chester was arrested for torture, second degree robbery and false imprisonment with violence. Bail was $1,095,000. Odd A 55-year-old man on the 14000 block of Wyndhaven Drive reported he was having an ongoing problem with a neighbor putting dog feces on his vehicle. Fire Riverside Avenue was closed between Citrus and Orange Grove Roads while firefighters battled a residential structure fire reported at 10:54 p.m. Wednesday in the 22000 block of Riverside. First unit on scene reported a fully involved trailer with one occupant who was able to get out. CalFire, Tehama County Fire and Red Bluff Fire were assisted by PG&E and Red Cross. The fire was contained at 12:03 a.m. Screening A woman at Tehama Village Apartments on Toomes Avenue in Corning reported Tuesday evening hearing someone trying to unscrew the screens on her windows and requested an officer conduct an area check and extra patrol as time allows. Prowler A woman on Fairview Avenue in Corning requested Wednesday to have extra patrol at night after finding a subject behind her residence at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Thefts • Someone on South Street in Corning reported Monday that the battery and documents including insurance and registration had been stolen from a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer that had its back license plate stolen last week. • Someone on Butte Street in Corning reported the theft of the back license plate, 04660D1, on her 2001 GMC pickup. The license plate was believed to have been stolen Friday. • Someone reported that someone used a fake account with her information to buy groceries from Safeway. Vandalism • Someone on Toomes Avenue in Corning reported at 2:56 a.m. Thursday that two people, last seen wearing blue sweatshirts and jeans and headed southbound on Toomes, had broken the windows of a vehicle across the street. • Someone at Corning High School reported Monday morning that there were 13 different taggings on several buildings on campus. Nothing further was available.
