3 DTD THE CORDELT Beta Omicron's Newest Members Make Their Mark Undergraduates Continue to Strive for Success in Recruitment and Philanthropy I n spite of mounting university regulations on Greek life, the Beta Omicron chapter is still marching forward with its recruitment efforts. The chapter initiated Alberto Morales-Nunez '21 this fall to follow up the previous spring class of 12 men. Alberto and the spring 2018 pledge class have sparked a sense of camaraderie and community in our fraternity that has inspired a radical change in our recruitment strategy, which will hopefully translate to continuing to our trend of strong recruitment in the spring of 2019. The new members of 2018 are excited to offer their talents to make our Chapter a welcoming place for all on the Cornell campus. They have already started to leave their mark on our organization. This is exemplified by Ben Posnick '21, who has taken on significant responsibility by helping coordinate our Delta Dogs philanthropic event with Delta Delta Delta and Cornell's Guiding Eyes for the Blind. We hope that with these new members, we can capitalize on our positive momentum and increase our campus presence with more inclusive and wide-spread social, philanthropic, and brotherhood events. Thanks to the efforts of Ugonna Erinne '19 and Ethan Lanphere '19, our brotherhood has increased our philanthropic output several fold. Over the past year, we have raised more than $1,200 in our Backpack BBQ for low-resource students in the greater Ithaca area. Additionally, we have worked closely with the local JDRF chapter, raising over $600 through our Dunk-A-Delt philanthropic event. These two brothers have moved to increase our presence in the Ithaca community with increased volunteering at the Loaves and Fishes local soup kitchen, along with our monthly visits to Enfield Elementary School. This semester we also hosted an outstanding Homecoming event with more than 130 attendees from across the globe. Thank you alumni for your never-ending support and everlasting dedication and commitment to the values of Delta Tau Delta. A special thanks to Chapter Advisor Jack Thompson '73 and the House Corporation for their unwavering support. The success that we experience is maintained only as a result of the support from the incredible alumni of our chapter. We thank you for your active participation in the brotherhood throughout the years. If you find yourself in the Ithaca area, we encourage you to stop by for a visit. We would love the opportunity to connect with you, share stories of our time in the Shelter, receive guidance, and share our vision for the future with you.
