P A G E 3 | N O T E S O F T H E L Y R E 2 018 has been a year of reaching many "heights" here at Phi Chapter. The women that make up Phi continue to embody the Real. Strong. Women. values of Alpha Chi Omega and I am proud to be a part of it. We are filled with gratitude for your continuous support in our journey to seek new heights. Change is constant, yet tradition is strong at Phi, and I am excited to share with you our accomplishments from the past few months. Best Recruitment in Phi History This year we placed in the top percentile when recruiting our new member class of 2018, which also happened to be the best in Phi Chapter history! Thank you to all the alumnae who attended our mock recruitment day or donated to our recruitment wish list. Your support does not go unnoticed. Academic Excellence Phi has made great academic improvements over the past year. For the spring 2018 semester, we had a chapter GPA of 3.43. We also had 30 women achieve a 4.0 GPA. We are very proud of the hard work of our sisters to achieve this milestone! Philanthropic Success Our fall philanthropy event, Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi, was held at our chapter house on October 4. We had a great turnout and were overwhelmed with the amount of people who showed up! This event helped us to raise more than $5,000 for the local Willow Domestic Violence Center here in Lawrence. Campus Involvement Our undergraduates remain very involved on campus. Two members were elected to the new Panhellenic executive board: Ally Kmiecik '16 as President, and Lexei Mann '16 as Director of Recruitment Education. Four of our women serve as CARE Sisters for the Panhellenic community and are educated to help peers with issues of sexual assault. We have four sisters serving on the Student Alumni Leadership Board. Katie Zimmerman '16 is the President of the KU Scientific Journal Club and Hannah Couture '16 is the President of KU Habitat for Humanity. Big and little, Liana Tauke '15 and Lauren Diercks '16, are on the executive board for Natural Ties, an organization that establishes friendships between KU students and individuals with developmental disabilities. As a chapter, we were awarded the Sexual Assault Prevention and Education Center (SAPEC) partnership award in which we are partnered with the center to promote education and awareness on the topic. I am amazed at the women of Phi Chapter and the positive impact that they are having on our campus and community. Parent's Weekend Thank you to all the parents who attended Parent's Weekend in September. A special thank-you to Valerie Miller, the Parent's Club president, for planning the weekend activities. The women of Alpha Chi Omega appreciate the support. We had a great Dad's Weekend and look forward to the holiday decorating we will be doing with the Parent's Club in November. We will soon be turning over to a new executive board and I am confident in the leadership that will follow. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving as the chapter president of 200- plus Real. Strong. Women. The strides that we have made as a chapter this year would not have been possible without the hard work and determination of our executive board or the advisors who volunteer their time to assist us in any way. I would like to thank all alumnae for your continuous support to Phi Chapter. Your commitment to us means more than you can imagine. Please know that the chapter house is always open to you for visit at any time.
