I didn't know a single person in Lawrence," recalls Rachael Kerz '10 upon coming to KU. She was terrified during recruitment, but her reluctance was put as ease as she realized Delta Gamma would be her home away from home. Rachael instantly connected with the women of the Beta Kappa Chapter and appreciated their accepting, approachable aura. "Delta Gamma felt like family and still does to this day." When asked about her favorite times at the Chapter house, Rachael shared her list is endless but a few include: late nights playing truth or dare in the hallways, movie nights, theme parties, initiation night, all- nighters studying, late-night fast food runs, and walking down the hill for graduation. The bonds created with her Delta Gamma sisters remain strong. "Many of my pledge sisters live in the Kansas City area and we get together for dinners, holidays, TV show premieres, and are constantly texting each other." Rachael anchored herself as an undergraduate with her long-lasting friendships made at Delta Gamma, but also through her role as house manager, co-social chairman, and assistant to recruitment chairman. Her leadership experience in Delta Gamma proved that she was ready for the workforce. Those qualities learned through Delta Gamma are reflected in her professional path today. Rachael is serving on the House Corporation board and is excited to have been invited to join. "I was delighted because I loved my undergraduate experience and the positions I held. I am able to reconnect with women in the active Chapter and show them I am here to help wherever I can." She is grateful to be active in the Chapter again and reminds alumnae that it's never too late to reach out and refresh a Delta Gamma relationship. "Chances are, your sisters are waiting to hear from you." Rachael resides in Westwood Hills, Kan., with her fiancé, Ben. She would love to hear from her sisters and can be reached at rachaelkerz@gmail.com. "I am able to reconnect with women in the active Chapter and show them I am here to help wherever I can." "I gave my heart and soul to my Beta Kappa sisters and Delta Gamma and I have gained some of the BEST relationships of my life that have helped me post- college!" Home Is Where the Heart Is Maddy Finch Ibarra '10 Giving Back to Delta Gamma D elta Gamma was home for Maddy Finch Ibarra '10 after leaving her home state of Texas. She had heard great things from her best friend who was a Delta Gamma at KU, but after preference day of recruitment, she knew in her heart that Delta Gamma was her home. Maddy was drawn to the accepting and well-rounded sisterhood during recruitment. From the beginning, Maddy was wholly involved with ΔΓ. "I was director of public relations, Rock Chalk Revue (RCR) director for two years, executive director of RCR my senior year, and temporarily vice president of communications. The opportunity to perform in decision-making positions as an undergraduate fostered professional skills for my fu- ture. Delta Gamma improved my people skills, taught me to work with different personalities and to work to- ward something bigger than myself. After working for a few different firms in marketing, I took the reins and started my own real estate business and have been a licensed agent since January 2018!" When asked about her favorite ΔΓ memory, Maddy thinks back to easy-going nights, giant sleepovers, goofy girl time, and watching movies. "Our pledge class was full of goofs who loved to play pranks on each other, dressing up to scare one another, and we enjoyed the camaraderie in the tube room." Although her time at the Chapter house was a ton of fun, Maddy encourages her younger Beta Kappa sisters to focus on academics and do something bigger for the Chapter. "The best advice I received as a freshman was that you get out what you put into it. I gave my heart and soul to my Beta Kappa sisters and Delta Gamma and I have gained some of the BEST relationships of my life that have helped me post-college!" ΔΓ instilled the importance of sisterhood in Maddy. "Lynn Stoneback Segebrecht '74 played an impor- tant part in our Chapter. She was always such a positive influence and reminded us of the love Delta Gamma carries." Maddy now serves on the House Corporation board after hearing her cousin had pledged Beta Kappa. "She inspired me to serve. I want to see Delta Gamma remain top a house on campus and I will help to ensure it does!" Maddy resides in Mission, Kan., and can be reached via email at maddyibarra17@gmail.com. Introducing the new Beta Kappa House
