Delta Gamma page 3 For Beth, the time spent with her sisters and friendships she gained through Delta Gamma are irreplaceable. "When I was approached to be part of the House Corporation, I didn't have to think twice." This is the second time Beth has answered the Delta Gamma call. She hopes to bring back some of those traditions she enjoyed so much, like the Little Pinafore Party. Beth resides in Mission, Kan., with her fury friend, Lexie, a rescue Yorkie. Both her daughters are living away from home. Emory '12 is a junior art director in Chicago and Corie is studying abroad in Japan. You can reconnect with Beth via email at hbeth1212@gmail.com. "I felt comfortable when meeting the Beta Kappa women, and I knew I was going to be a Delta Gamma on day one!" Carly is proud to be a Beta Kappa and is constantly able to share her sisterhood. "On more than one occasion I have heard people mention KU Delta Gamma in a positive light and I'm honored to declare I'm a member." Carly's memories of her time at the Chapter house are fresh and she shares she can't pinpoint one favorite, but Bid Day and Initiation were her two top memories. Due to her role as T-shirt chairman, Carly's creative spirit was sparked and led her to her professional role today. Carly works as a marketing manager for Samson Dental Partners. The company manages 33 dental practices in three states. Her role involves patient and recruiting marketing efforts including print, digital and social media. "I have always been a creative person but my sisterhood spurred my interest in digital design and led me to where I am today." "I truly enjoyed my time at Delta Gamma decided to give back to the organization that has given so much to me." Carly chose to serve on the House Corporation board because of the friendships, support, and lasting memories anchored to her heart. In her free time, Carly is able to spend time with her Beta Kappa sisters who live in the Kansas City area. "We pick up right were we left off. We spend holidays together, have watch parties, attend Chiefs games, or just hang out!" She is grateful for the closeness and bond she continues to share through Delta Gamma. Carly can be reached at carlygutierrez7@gmail.com. "I truly enjoyed my time at Delta Gamma and decided to give back to the organization that has given so much to me." House Corporation Board Members T aylor Thomas '12 is always proud to say she is a Beta Kappa of Delta Gamma. "Delta Gamma has an excellent reputation on campus and is thought of highly by many." That was part of the reason that Taylor pledged to ΔΓ; her love for the women that form part of the sisterhood. "It was clear that the ΔΓ women genuinely cared for one another and enjoyed each other's company." As an undergraduate, Taylor had the opportunity to be active on campus and within the Beta Kappa Chapter as VP of Finance. As an adult, Taylor wanted to remain connected to her sisterhood and decided to volunteer on the House Corporation Board. She felt empowered to join after seeing a group of women she looked up to as an undergraduate serving as well. "I thought it would be a fun way to reconnect while bettering the ΔΓ house." She is impressed by the active Chapter and applauded them as a group of respectable, fun, beautiful young women. Taylor is grateful for the foundation that ΔΓ set for her professionally. She earned her bachelor's and master's degree in accounting from KU. Taylor is employed by Deloitte & Touche LLP within the Audit Department and passed the CPA exam in September 2017. She has worked as an auditor for over a year. She attributes her success to KU and her role as VP of Finance. "When I started KU as a freshman, I knew that I wanted obtain a business degree and during my sophomore year, I took my first accounting class and it just clicked." Taylor recalls how at ease she felt and that she enjoyed the type of work. "My role with Beta Kappa gave me the insight to explain situations that challenged me, taught me to collaborate on what I determined were my strengths and weaknesses, and explain my goals and how they were achieved. I truly believe that my role had a significant impact on my career opportunities." Some of Taylor's favorite memories of her time in the Chapter house are Rock Chalk Revue, winning RCR in 2014, late-night talks out in the hallway, and studying in the basement, all while building lasting friendships.
