Lyre Letter 6 T here are so many amazing things that have happened just in the past year for our Alpha Beta sisters—where to even begin! This has been a fun and busy year so far, and I am very happy to share how successful our members have been and to give you an insight into our special chapter. RECRUITMENT RAISES THE BAR Starting with recruitment, Alpha Beta had one of the best years we've ever had. We enthusiastically welcomed 44 new members into our home, nine of whom are legacies. We had the best return rates to date for Alpha Beta, and we cannot thank our passionate recruitment team enough for all of the hard work they contributed to our great success. Recruitment was a great start to the new school year, and we've had a lot of other successful events along the way. PHILANTHROPIC AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT Alpha Chi Omega has continuously dedicated our time to raising awareness about domestic violence and strengthening the relationship we have with the YWCA of Greater Lafayette. In spring 2018, we held our inagural Alpha Chi-Cken and Waffles event. Successfully selling hundreds of tickets to this event, we were able to provide college students a delicious meal, as well as further their education on domestic violence and what we can do to try to put a stop to it. We were able to present a check for over $2,000 to the YWCA at our Alpha Beta centennial celebration in September from the profits we made from our spring event. We are so fortunate to have such a strong relationship with the YWCA and have the ability to work with them personally. This allows us to see the impact we are making, and we are touched by their verbal appreciation for all our help with their cause. TOP ACADEMIC CHAPTER ON CAMPUS Our chapter recently hosted eight of our own professors for Scholarship Dinner, where we celebrated being number one in grades this past semester. Out of 18 Panhellenic sororities, Alpha Chi Omega held the highest GPA at a 3.45. Our sisters are very dedicated to our grades and we loved sharing our successes with our professors who have helped us get to where we are today. ALUMNAE ATTEND CENTENNIAL Our centennial celebration in October has definitely been the highlight of our semester at Purdue so far. We welcomed back nearly 200 alumnae to celebrate our centennial weekend. Whether receiving a 50-year pin, breaking it down on the dance floor, or throwing what we know, our entire weekend was filled with delightful memories to lead us into the second century of Real. Strong. Women. at Purdue! What a special time it is to be an Alpha Beta! We have made many great memories during our first semester this year, and we are looking forward to the events we have ahead, including initiation, our second Alpha Chi- Cken and Waffles event, and many more fun activities. Our members never cease to amaze me in everything they can accomplish in such little time! May we all continue to seek the heights in everything we do.
