IN MEMORIAM
Christena "Christy" Clark Smith '65 passed away on Monday, August 20, after a courageous
four-year battle with breast cancer. Committed to bettering her community, Christy became a
fixture in Lafayette as a long-time leader in the non-profit sector, including executive director
of Leadereship Lafayette. Practicing what she preached, Christy was an active volunteer and
served on the boards of numerous non-profit and professional organizations. Christy loved her
extended Alpha Chi Omega family.
ALUMNAE NEWS
Dorothea Raub Strasburger '51 shares, "I have enjoyed my association with Alpha Beta
members so very much through the years and can't imagine my happy life without Alpha Chi
friends. Chapter letters and the newsletter make our mail special." Email: rstrasburger@att.net
Janice Bates Knaus '63 shares, "Our 1963 pledge class is the living proof of the joy of the
Alpha Chi Omega sisterhood. We have been getting together annually for over 36 years! We
meet at a different sister's house across the country, ranging from California, Indiana, Ohio,
Illinois and Washington. We're too old to sleep on air mattresses, so next we'll be in Santa Fe,
New Mexico!" Email: jan.knaus@gmail.com
Elizabeth Rulon Keele '75 is enjoying retirement after 38 years of government service. She
volunteers for St. Vincent Hospice and Ovar'coming Together, an ovarian cancer awareness
organization. "I work part-time for the Indianapolis Indians on their game days and stay close
with my besties, Susan Huffman Neal '75, Dawn Skolen Reed '75, and Jill Voss '75,"
Elizabeth shares. E-mail: liz.keele@gmail.com
