Thrivent Financial has given us thousands of dollars to help "Pass It Forward" in this community. These projects have helped the museum get a new sign and bathroom improvements, the Senior Center to be able to put on several of their holiday dinners, 4-H with funds for the fair and sup- plies and clothes, Salvation Army with the children's toy drive, our local elementary school with cloth- ing and school supplies for the kids, just to mention a few. There are many new projects being approved right now to help with the holiday baskets for the low-income seniors and Eve's Place. Hero Comfort will be able to utilize funds to mail items to our troops for the holidays, and other programs like the Rock Club's Spaghetti Challenge for their schol- arship funds. I just received this special invita- tion from the Yuma Offi ce inviting the community to come and listen to some of the awesome stories of Action Team leaders who have lead a project and how you can get involved in helping your church, organization, neighbors, and many more folks in the community through the benefi ts of doing an Action Team Project. You are invited! On Thursday, November 15th, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, Thrivent Financial invites the community to the Quartzsite Community Center for a workshop concerning future Action Teams. You can meet some of the wonderful people that have hosted a project or two and listen to the benefi ts that have come from these Thrivent Action Teams. (Including those "Live Generously" t-shirts). At this workshop you will learn how these Action Teams work, get orga- nized, and funded and why Thrivent Financial invests back into the com- munity. There will be a free drawing for some lovely gift baskets. No fee to attend and nothing being sold. If you are a member of Thrivent Financial, have participated in an Action Team or are just curious to see how easy it is to do one, we encourage you to come and bring a friend. ~ Maggie Ross The Silent Auction will be held on Saturday Dec 8th from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm in the Main Hall at QIA. The Soup and Chowder will also be at QIA from noon to 3:00 pm. We will have many items at the auction donated by businesses, vendors and individual people. Come over and bid on the items you want, go enjoy soup and chow- der and return to see if you need to up your bid. If you can't stay until 4:00 pm that is okay, if you are the winning bid we will call you. We will have a display of cards, letters, certifi cates and fl ags that we have received back from units. We will have Christmas cards to send to the troops for you to sign. If you have items you would like to donate to the auction you can drop them off at the offi ce of the apart- ments, Readers Oasis bookstore, or call Anita at 763 639-9330 and I will gladly pick them up.
