Fall is one of the most beautiful and exciting seasons at Mizzou, and we're pleased to share these updates with you. Our collegians are already well into their new semester. In August, we welcomed a new member class of 63 women. Chapter quota was 57, and new member classes ranged 57 to 77 women in size. More on recruitment and these special new members can be found inside. As we shared in the spring, we are excited to show you updated rooms now that our large construction project has ended. Our second featured room is our basement dining room. Before the remodel, a load-bearing wall divided the dining room. As the chapter grew, this created disjointed meal times for the women. Our remodel opened this space into one large dining room. The basement can sometimes double as a meeting or dance practice space, so long dining tables were replaced with round ones to improve flow and allow them to be more easily rolled out of the way. Even the new salad and drink stations can be rolled out of the way. Building a patio deck on the first floor was a wonderful addition for our collegians. But that combined with necessary storage for our HVAC system meant that the windows on the west side were no longer receiving natural light. Our interior designers, StudioHome, craftily solved the problem by making the original windowpanes backlit. Thankfully the dining room still feels bright and cheery. The dining room walls are covered with photos of Alpha Mus from every decade. It's the perfect decoration for the room where so many Thetas have shared their meals together. In the back corner of the room, sliding barn doors create an additional alcove for studying next to a coffee station and refrigerator where members can store food, pick up late meals, or find a snack on the weekend. We hope many of you had the opportunity to enjoy this space at Homecoming. Finally, I need to share with you that this will be my last letter as president of the Facility Corporation Board. Both FCB Treasurer Annie Hildebrandt '07 and I have served two consecutive terms in our roles. We are thrilled to remain on the board while ushering others into these roles. Angel Stewart '81 will be taking over as treasurer. Angel was an integral leader for the recent capital campaign and is an anesthesiologist living in St. Louis. She has two children, a son, 26, and a daughter, 24, who pledged Alpha Mu in 2012. Mary Dee Rychnovsky '85 is an attorney with Armstrong Teasdale in St. Louis doing medical malpractice work. She has a 9-year-old daughter (and future Theta). On behalf of Annie and me, it has been a great honor to be part of the leadership team for Alpha Mu's Facility Corporation Board during this time of growth and change. We are excited to see what the future holds for our collegians and 603 Kentucky.
