Colorado Delta Excelling on the Mines Campus New Member Class and Philanthropic Partnerships Make Future Bright T he Colorado Delta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon has been up to great things this past year by accomplishing our Chapter goals and alumni and community outreach. Most importantly, we continue to build balanced men through continued development and brotherly love. One of our Chapter goals is to establish a consistent philanthropy partner. We are working with Big Brothers Big Sisters to cultivate a relationship and host events in the future for children in the program and their mentors. Big Brothers Big Sisters is a mentorship program that helps at-risk kids by providing them with an adult mentor. Look out for information in the future as we develop this partnership. SigEp reigns supreme in academics. For the fourth semester in a row, Sigma Phi Epsilon achieved the highest grade point average among fraternities. The Chapter GPA of 3.51 for the spring semester was the highest among Greek life by almost two points, while also eclipsing the overall campus GPA. We are very proud of all our brothers' hard work and efforts. Our goal is to keep improving academically and maintain this fantastic success. We have many members involved with Order of Omega all-Greek honor society, undergraduate Student Government, Interfraternal Council, and others. They are showing the rest of campus what SigEp can provide the School of Mines and exemplifying our leadership abilities. We intend to maintain this success into the next semester. While we are excelling academically, we have also increased house membership to 68 total members with our new fall recruitment class. Vice President of Recruitment Joseph Graff '20 did a fantastic job in planning our recruitment week. With his hard work and the support of the brothers, we received one of our largest classes in recent years with 18 new members! We are excited to see where this stellar growth and membership total can guide SigEp in the years to come. If you are ever in the Golden area, feel free to stop in for a visit. We would love to get to know you and share what is going on with Colorado Delta. It is always a pleasure hearing stories from our alumni's undergraduate years. Fraternally, Cole Casey '19, Chapter President colecasey@mines.edu sigep's spring And FAll semester Filled with eVents B ack in the spring semester, Colorado Delta brothers participated in the annual E-Days campus-wide events. Our members had a great time participating in events like the Orecart Pull and the E-Days concert. The week of August 27th, we participated in the fall recruitment week. The week's events included Carnival Night; Camp Out, where we cooked hot dogs and roasted s'mores; a shrimp boil; and Steak and Cigars. A total of 18 new members joined at the end of the week. We hosted a social with Kappa Alpha Theta where we played a real-life version of Mario Kart. We had tricycles with balloons tied to the back, dragging behind. A pair would ride on the tricycle and try to pop all the other balloons on others tricycles. It was a great event! Homecoming was the weekend of the September 28. We participated in the float building competition with Sigma Kappa. It was great to see some of our alumni come by the Homecoming tailgate followed up by a convincing Mines football victory!
