2 SIGMA PHI EPSILON AVC where he was responsible for the publication of many of our Stope newsletters of recent years. In 2013, Art was elected as the AVC's first director emeritus, an honorary position requiring more than 10 years of service on the board of directors. Art was a father-in-law to Jessica and Justyne, grandfather to Beau (4) and Rowyn (14), and big brother to Nancy Giles of Grand Junction. Art also leaves behind many other family members and friends whom were blessed to know and share their lives and carry on memories of him. "With a true heart, our brother was a shield of defense to those less able to bear their burdens. After four years in the Navy, including Vietnam and Dominican Republic tours, he left and returned to Colorado to attend the University of Denver, receiving an MBA in 1968. After a multifaceted business career, Carl retired in 2004. He lives in Golden, Colo., with his wife, Sandra. Allan Cerny '63 has a second home in Eagle Rock Resort, Hazleton, Pa. He is usually there May through November. E-mail: icerny@sc.rr.com Craig Clemmens '70 has been running a slimhole wireline logging company for the last 40 years, mostly for coal and groundwater. When coal prices collapsed three years ago, he semi-retired. Actually, his phone just quit ringing. Last year, he took a temporary position as a PG inspector on the ME2 pipeline project. That may go on another year. On another note, all of his kids live in different countries. Alex lives in Japan, Katie lives in Peru, and Sarah lives in California. Gary does executive recruiting in the agriculture, food, and bio-science sectors.
