3 ETA CHAPTER MAINTAINS HIGH ACADEMIC AND PHILANTHROPIC STANDARDS Officers Grateful for Opportunity to Attend Balfour Conference T his semester the Eta Chapter has continued our success academically and philanthropically. Forty-two members made the Chancellor's Honor Roll, 21 of those receiving a perfect 4.0 GPA. The highlight of last semester was Derby Days, chaired by Wills Hay '20 and Tom Fowlkes '20. Over the week we collected more than 200 pints of blood for Mississippi Blood Services and thousands of cans and raised $25,000 for the William Magee Center for Wellness Education. This center will greatly enhance our Ole Miss family, as it provides counseling, treatment and outside referrals to help members of the campus community overcome substance misuse. Our Derby Days philanthropy garnered 100% chapter participation throughout the week. This summer, Collin Curtin '19, Annotator Jack Mason '19, Magister Cameron Grier '19, Magister Maddex Webb '19, Hunter Douglas '19, Philanthropy Chairman Winn Medlock '20, and I traveled to the Balfour Leadership Conference in Bowling Green, Ohio. We attended seminars on how to best improve Eta Chapter operations. Following this conference, the Eta Chapter was awarded our second-straight Peterson Award, the highest honor that Sigma Chi bestows upon an undergraduate chapter and a symbol of dedication, idealism and achievement. This semester the chapter will add nearly 70 new members who will undergo a four-week pledgeship program. The Eta Chapter is excited to build off our recent success as the year progress.
