3 SIGMA CHI ExCEEding ExpECtations Epsilon Kappa Awarded by International Fraternity and IFC T he Epsilon Kappa Chapter has had a fantastic fall semester. The Chapter has taken home top awards from both the University and the International Fraternity. We also had a great year in recruitment and welcomed a strong pledge class to the Chapter. We are also looking forward to our annual Derby Days week this October. EPSILON KAPPA NAMED IFC CHAPTER OF THE YEAR This past spring, the Chapter was named IFC Chapter of the Year for the third year in a row by the university. We also were awarded a Pillar of Excellence for Values Integration and received the top spot in grades for the spring 2018 semester with a semester GPA of 3.29 and a cumulative GPA of 3.42. UNDERGRADUATE CHAPTER HONORED AT BALFOUR LEADERSHIP TRAINING WORKSHOP We had the pleasure of sending seven brothers to Balfour Leadership Training Workshop this summer, where the Chapter won a Legion of Honor, a Peterson Significant Chapter, and the Daniel William Cooper Award. The Cooper Award is given to only one Chapter per year and is the most prestigious award given out by the International Fraternity. It is awarded to the Chapter with the most comprehensive academic program. BROTHERS WELCOME 33 PLEDGES TO SIGMA CHI The fall 2018 semester has also been going exceedingly well. The Chapter now has 33 pledges in the Epsilon Epsilon pledge class. We will also be having our annual Derby Days week, benefitting Special Olympics of Greater Memphis, on October 17-20. THANK YOU, LOYAL ALUMNI As we near the Chapter's 65th anniversary, I simply wanted to say thank you to our great alumni who support us through everything. It is no secret that the Epsilon Kappa Chapter is the best Greek organization at the University of Memphis, and arguably the best Chapter in the International Fraternity as a whole. Without the dedication and efforts put forth by the men who came before us, none of it would be possible. I am sincerely humbled and grateful for the work that our alumni have put in for us. That work does not go unnoticed by the active Chapter as it has been a powerful motivator for us. Thank you for your continued support and dedication.
