7 Alpha Chi Omega CHAPTER ETERNAL Daysie Cornwall Beckett '49 entered Chapter Eternal on April 22 at the age of 89. Daysie attended Central Methodist University for two years and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in education, home economics. On August 6, 1950, she married Theodore. She accompanied her husband during his military tours to Alabama, Indiana and Heidelberg, Germany. Daysie is survived by her husband, three daughters, two sons, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Priscilla Ann Lierheimer Phillips '66 entered Chapter Eternal on July 3 after a difficult battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was 72. Survivors include two sons and their wives, four grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. Prissy graduated from Mexico High School in 1964 and the University of Missouri in 1969. She was Barnwarming Queen at MU. Prissy spent the majority of her life in Joplin, Mo., surrounded by the love of music, gardening, family and great friends in her church community. She also enjoyed owning and operating the antique and gift shop called, Imagine That! ALUMNAE NEWS Mary Hickey Ratz '40 says she would love to see all the amazing things that have been done to the chapter house, but at 96, she does not get around much. When Mary was younger she did a lot of traveling to places like India, Africa and Nepal. After she and her husband retired, they built a house in Jefferson County, just outside of St. Louis. For many years, Mary was a volunteer at the Wild Center. She lives in Springfield, Ill. Nancy Greef Cramer '50 has written five books about WWI. The last one, Retreat to Victory in 1915, is about the Serbian Army's historic and epic retreat in 1915. "I have received commendation of my book from the Serbian Orthodox Church in America and will be presenting book talks and signings in Chicago and New York in September and October." Nancy has been a volunteer for eight years at the National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City and has presented numerous programs and PowerPoint presentations area-wide. All this and she turned 87 during the summer! "I also have essays and short stories published in local newspapers. This journalism grad is getting words printed on paper after being a teacher and counselor all my working years plus 17 years as a woman-owned business selling fire extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems in the business my late husband owned. She belongs to a knitting group that makes blankets and hats for newborn babies at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. Email: mjstrickler653@aol.com Jean Elbert Keith '68 of Franklin, Tenn., and Joan Dawson Huhn '69 of Columbia, Mo., cruised the Baltic this summer with friends and family—finding it incredibly interesting and unique. They spent extra time in Amsterdam, where Joan's granddaughter wants to live. Carla Henke Mattson '68 had a chance to attend her seventh Alpha Chi Convention in Austin, Texas, where she received her 50-year pin. Carla lives in Lenexa, Kan. The program is designed to make is easier for the 1.3 million homeless students in this country to stay in school and be successful. She lives in Edmond, Okla. Lauren is their oldest daughter and she started her sophomore year in high school and their youngest, Brooke, started eighth grade. The family lives in Jackson, Mo. "Brooke enjoys volleyball, Lauren is an amazing artist, Alex is working and raising his daughter, Cali, while Colton is finishing nursing school. Kevin is hoping to retire soon and I'm in my 12th year as an account manager with Grainger. We enjoy traveling, quality time with our family/friends and spending our summers at Kentucky Lake!
