THE BALANCED MAN PROGRAM e Balanced Man Program, the pledging-free development model adopted by undergraduate vote of the entire fraternity, consists of five philosophical tenets: 3 Continuous Development: e BMP challenges men to improve through four different development phases called "challenges" (Σ, Φ, Ε, Brother Mentor). Each challenge focuses on a distinct time in a member's life, from getting acclimated to college life to preparing for life beyond college. Accountability: High expectations facilitate high achievement. Our culture is focused on members holding themselves and others to a higher standard and creating a system of support and accountability. Living the Ritual: e Ritual is the symbolic representation and reminder of our core beliefs. SigEp's culture fosters the discovery, creation, and execution of values-based decisions and actions. Mentoring: e success of our culture hinges on the concept of mentoring in which members continuously support each other and challenge each other to grow. e BMP connects members to mentors who help them transition to college life, navigate their college experience, and prepare for life aer college. Equal Rights and Responsibilities: SigEp has single-tiered membership—no pledging and no hazing. Equal rights and responsibilities mean that every member who joins SigEp is a full member with the same rights and same responsibilities from the moment they join. ey will be held to the same high expectations and given opportunities for growth. "From past actions over the years and of those that removed our chapter from campus, it was clear that a new direction was needed. We must adapt to the ever-evolving nature of campus life, social pressures, and how fraternity life plays into the overall campus experience. Recruiting men who fit the current values outlined by our fraternity will be key to our successful return." – David Huhnke '83 Guided by the Mentoring team, these new Brothers will use the BMP to build a val- ues-driven Residential Learning Community and a chapter culture with consistent operational excel- lence and strength in recruitment and retention. is is no less than a major entrepre- neurial startup. ere are many moving parts. Indiana Alpha will need the in- volvement of prominent alumni.
