OUR RETURN TO PURDUE S igEp is fully committed to the highest level of success in restoring Indiana Alpha as one of the leading fraternities at Purdue. Indiana Alpha's alumni rightly have the highest of expectations that the resurrection of the chapter will not only bring back to life all the joyous experiences we so fondly remember but also bring into reality a chapter experience that is the very best anywhere in the fraternity world. Our ritual tells us, "Be warned that to espouse high ideals is to invite many failures to attain them. But know, too, that to espouse no ideals is to become a cynic without principle." Restarting our chapter at Purdue will not be easy. Our commitment is to be different from the frat boy image. is requires us to examine why we failed, to understand the campus climate, and to determine what resources are needed to give our newly refounded chapter the greatest possible chance of success. Returning to Purdue is a process your Alumni and Volunteer Corporation (AVC) began planning immediately aer the suspension of operations in 2015. All of these steps are foundational to our successful return. • Eight new members of the AVC were recruited to build up our fundraising capabilities. • Alumni communications have been revamped and improved. • A serious campaign of finding previously lost alumni has begun. • Financial strength has been regained by finding a multiyear tenant for our beloved 690 Waldron. • Essential life-safety renovations have been completed in the house. • Our partnership with the university has been renewed and deepened. • A team of alumni and volunteer mentors is being recruited by the AVC and HQ to pair with each undergraduate officer to guide them into being great SigEp achievers as they build their new chapter. • A Recolonization Committee has been formed to interface with the university and SigEp HQ resources to launch our startup. 2 Next come all the details, beginning now, to return Indiana Alpha to the Purdue campus. An expansion team of two proven successful regional directors from SigEp HQ will be assigned to come to Purdue to begin organizing those details. Immediately, the entire team will work to market our new Balanced Man Scholarship as the cornerstone to recruiting our new chapter membership. It is aimed at incoming and existing freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors to identify the strongest candidates in the Purdue student body who demonstrate a desire for strong academic achievement, diverse life interests, and the pursuit of excellence in their endeavors. Ninety percent of college takes place outside of the classroom. It's in this part of the college experience—the unplanned, unstructured hours—that students discover their passions and plan their futures. For our brothers, much of this time is spent with their chapters—it's where they build close bonds of friendship and learn how to communicate and work with others, to lead, and to speak in front of a crowd. Our brothers accomplish all of this through the Balanced Man Program (BMP). e Balanced Man Program is the centerpiece of the SigEp chapter experience and provides the experience that today's student needs to be successful during and aer college. e Balanced Man Program is a non-pledging, non-hazing, four-year, personal, academic, leadership and professional skills development experience.
