A NEW ERA FOR INDIANA ALPHA
S
ince our founding in 1905, Sigma Phi Epsilon has been an in-
tegral part of the Purdue University community. roughout
our history, the Indiana Alpha Chapter has set itself apart
from other fraternities on campus with a legacy of high academic
and athletic achievements, as well as strong leadership.
While we are certainly proud of our historic achievements, the
Indiana Alpha Chapter has experi-
enced trying times recently. Aer
several troubling years, volunteers
worked with university officials and
representatives of the fraternity to
impact the behavior and values of the
members. However, it became clear
in late 2015 that the members were
no longer living up to the principles
and values of Sigma Phi Epsilon. e
decision was made by the university
to suspend the active chapter in May
2015.

Over the past two years, a committed group of alumni has worked
to make Indiana Alpha's absence from Purdue's Greek commu-
nity short in duration. e Indiana Alpha Alumni and Volunteer

effort, which will involve a new recruitment program, an updated
member education program, and a renovated chapter house, is an
ambitious and necessary move to re-
turn Indiana Alpha to its place as a
leading fraternity at Purdue.
e return to Purdue in 2019 and the
plan to renovate the chapter house
will be a journey of parallel paths—
paths of excellence in membership
selection and in facility upgrades. A
fresh start will ensure our ability to

on the legacy of Sigma Phi Epsilon at
