PAGE 3 Delta Delta Delta A lpha Beta has many things to look forward to this semester. But first, I would like to reflect on some of the highlights of spring and summer, and how our members have truly embodied our goal to Live Kind. Lead Kind. RELAY FOR LIFE The spring 2018 semester ended strong with our annual participation in Relay for Life at Cornell. Relay is a community-based fundraiser for the American Cancer Society that takes place internationally where teams raise money, walk, and run booths in support of cancer research. Last spring, we teamed up with Lambda Theta Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Delta Upsilon to form a united Greek Tri-Council team. Lead by Philanthropy Chairman Liz Davis-Frost '20, we had a great turnout at the event and our team raised over $5,700. We can't wait to participate in all the incredible philanthropy events Liz will lead alongside Assistant Philanthropy Chairman Sam Hertle '21. TRI DELTA CONVENTION In July, I had the incredible opportunity to attend Convention 2018 in Dallas, Texas. I spent three days in the beautiful Gaylord Texan Resort, meeting alumnae and fellow collegiate chapter presidents, participating in ritual, and voting on bylaws. The theme of the convention was Bring You, a motto that really resonates with me in regard to our chapter specifically. Every time we take in a new member class, we don't ask that they join us to be like us, but that they join and bring themselves. Each year brings new experiences, skills, and perspectives to strengthen our chapter as we question how we can better ourselves and have a positive impact on campus. We would like to thank all of the alumnae who continue to support us. We look forward to seeing you at 118 Triphammer over Homecoming weekend, or anytime you're back in Ithaca. Our doors are always open! Alpha Betas Around the World This summer has been an amazing experience for Alpha Betas across the world, from Ithaca to San Francisco, to India and Australia, our chapter members have been learning, leading, and giving back. Activities Chairman Delaney Ho '21 spent the last two months working with the Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement, a NGO located in Southern India. She has operated within the Socioeconomic Empowerment Program in Kenchanahalli, a tribal village, finding new ways to foster entrepreneurship, creating business models, and marketing their tribal products. Lydia Clemente '20 spent the summer living in Dublin and interning for a nonprofit that conducts and publishes data analytics on innovation in Ireland. As an intern at the nonprofit, Lydia helped to manage their social media accounts and worked on a team to create a template for a children's book series they will be releasing this fall on Irish innovation by county. Our vice president of public relations, Christina Alvarez '20, traveled to Sydney, Australia, to take a class on the Australian Wine Industry and intern for the Pro-Invest Group, a boutique investment firm specializing in private equity real estate and real estate asset management. During her internship, she got to participate in different projects that are in development across Australia and New Zealand. Christina also had a great time sightseeing around Sydney; she got to see the Harbor Bridge, Opera House, and Bondi Beach, as well as go to surf camp and sky dive!
