THE DELTA NEWS 3 D espite being a legacy with Alpha Tau Omega, David Iverson '65 almost pledged a different fraternity. Thanks to the efforts of his future big brother, Lynn Skabo '62, David instead found his home with Delta Nu and strives to provide that same home for current and future members. "The campaign for the new chapter house brings a sense of pride, knowing we are leaving something behind for those who have joined our brotherhood at the University of North Dakota. Make a financial commitment, no matter the size, to help us complete this worthy project." As a member of the alumni board, David feels privileged to witness the efforts of the current undergraduate members to maintain these leadership and brotherhood standards. "They appear to be very successful academically and their perseverance to build a quality chapter without the benefits of a facility of their own speaks to the quality of the young men. To me, it's the most impressive element of their success." David's own success stems from the lessons learned during his undergraduate years with Delta Nu. From a career in Christian ministry, to sports broadcasting and marketing, to his A Cook's Tour business, David's entrepreneurial spirit was first cultivated through the brotherhood. "Honestly, I was not a serious student in the classroom, but learned many life lessons through interacting with brothers and then the board. This was a direct result of confidence gained through interaction with brothers at 3000 University Avenue." Constantly inspired by his brothers' commitment to Delta Nu, as exemplified by beloved member Dr. Min Hin Li '68, who remained loyal as he waited close to 50 years to be initiated, David hopes to see a chapter house at 3000 University that provides similar opportunities to those he was given. "I gained an immeasurable amount of confidence from brothers in a place we called the 3000 Fun Club. We have the chance to provide that and so much more!" David resides in Carnation, Wash., and enjoys traveling around the world to provide culinary and cultural experiences. He can be reached at david@acookstour.com.
