Delta Chi Fraternity at Kansas State University SUMMER 2018 Graduates Return to Delta Chi Alumni Board of Trustees Announces Three New Members A s we enter the 2018-19 year, the K-State Alumni Board of Trustees continues to grow. We currently sit at 15 members, with members from both the second and third generations. We feel it is important that alumni continue to give back, whether through our time or resources, as the chapter continues to grow and take on new endeavors. Recent additions to our board include Bill Meredith '71, who serves in a general advisory position. Bill served as faculty advisor for the chapter while he was associate dean of the College of Human Ecology. Bill is now an adviser for Beta Theta Pi at the University of Missouri, Kansas City. Another addition to our board is Zachary Stroth '15, who serves as our philanthropy advisor. Zach was heavily involved in philanthropy as an undergraduate and started Delta Chi's Adopt-a-Child, our annual holiday season philanthropic event. Zach is a former consultant for Delta Chi International, and is now a graduate student at Texas Christian University studying educational leadership in higher education. Jacob Taylor '14 has joined ABT as a risk manager advisor. Jacob lives in Overland Park, Kan., with his wife and is a sales representative for ACME Doc Specialists in Kansas City, Mo. We are happy to have Bill, Zach, and Jacob joining our board, and we look forward to a great year! WILLIAM "BILL" CORNELIUS '07 TRULY LOVES WHAT HE DOES USAF Pilot Gives Credit to Delta Chi W illiam "Bill" Cornelius '07 grew up in the suburban Chicago town of Palatine, Ill., where he had dreamed of being in the Air Force since he can remember. When he left Chicago, he left with the intent to become a fighter pilot. "I came to K-State because of the strong Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program and the amazing school," Bill recalls. "I've always wanted to fly planes and see the world." While Bill was in the Air Force ROTC he met Zac Cook '03, who talked about how awesome his experiences in Delta Chi had been. "Dana talked about what brotherhood meant and how Delta Chi made his college experience more fulfilling," Bill remembers. "I was sold and asked to be introduced." As an undergraduate member, Bill learned that decisions can have lasting impacts on the fraternity for years to come. "Working together in a house and leading peers is a huge challenge that Delta Chi asks young college students to do," Bill admits. "The brotherhood I experienced in the fraternity really taught me what a close group of brothers can be like with a common identity and common mission, and of course some parties in there for fun." After graduation, Bill was selected for a Navigator position. While originally disappointed, he continued to work hard and was determined to achieve his dream. He soon became a Weapons Systems Officer (WSO) on the F-15E Strike Eagle. "If I couldn't be a Bill Cornelius '07 flies the Delta Chi flag over Iraq. (Continued on page 2)
