Wow! What a year! Weve been through it all from the disaster that is the Prince Charles to racial proling to a doomed parks and recreation bond! Its been enough to wear a newspaper man out. But its not all been bad. Over the past year weve seen growth in our community. Weve welcome the majority of soldiers our friends and neighbors home and BRAC nally happened. And, since Im writing this on the morning of Dec. 21, the world didnt end. Its time to celebrate! Im glad 2012 is over and Im thankful to all our readers, advertisers and supporters who made it a success for us. You have weathered the nancial storm with us and stood by us. As we move into the new year, we could ask for no better friends or supporters. No doubt we love this community and love what we do and couldnt do it without you. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart. Now, lets have some fun and bring the New Year in with a bang! After all, if we survived this year, we have reason to celebrate. In this issue, you are going to nd a veritable cornucopia of things you can do on New Years Eve. Some of them will appeal to our young readers. Some of them will appeal to our well-heeled readers and some of them can work for everyone. As you make your decision on how you are going to ring in the New Year, I hope you do so with laughter. And if thats the case, then Im asking you to join me to laugh in the new year. In case you missed last weeks issue, the show is comprised of ve, one-act plays written by local playwright Elaine Alexander. Directed by Jeremy Fiebig and Gilbert Artistic Director Robyne Parrish, the show will run through Jan. 6, with three special events to celebrate the occasion: the VIP opening, New Years Eve Party and on Jan. 5, a Meet the Playwright opportunity for an upclose and personal conversation with the artist. But back to those New Years plans. On Dec. 31, the Gilbert will offer a 9:30 p.m. production of the show. Prior to the show and during intermission, drinks and appetizers will be available. Then after the show, the cast will join us to ring in the new year with a wonderful downtown party at the theater. Its an event you are not going to want to miss. Like our newspaper, I promise this will be a unique, edgy, entertaining and Up & Coming experience. I hope you will join us for the fun.
