They might even perform "On the cover of the Desert Messenger..." Come join the Greater Quartzsite Ukulele Orchestra for another fantastic show in Quartzsite. They will be performing at the QIA, (Quartzsite Improvement Assoc.) on Thursday, February 29th at 7pm. Donations accepted. The group meets at Gold Star Clubhouse Mondays at 10am until March 9th when they will have an- other show that evening at 7pm. Their fearless leader, Alex muddy Smith, is a Reno/Tahoe based singer/songwriter/guitar man who grew up in Chicago. He is a 50 year veteran of the musical stage, has a passion and true talent for songwriting. Mix that with an awesome sing- ing style, solid guitar chops, humor and fantastic ability to connect with any audience and you have a memorable night of entertainment. Alex started the Ukulele group back in 2019, but said he didn't do much during Covid. They have since grown from 10-15 people at their fi rst meet- ing, to performing at Horney Toad, a delightful Christmas Show, to around 30 musicians at the QIA concert last month. Alex said there is only one requirement to join… agree to their unoffi cial Mission Statement, "To have fun!" Check out their Facebook group to join in on all the fun and add it to your Quartzsite Bucket List!
