Cycling hits home for Ben Jones Ben Jones' experience working in cafeteria man- agement hardly qualified him to start and grow a bi- cycle shop, but his rekindled passion for enjoying what bicycles offer him gave him the drive to succeed. Jones opened Dogwood Junction in downtown Si - loam Springs in 2011, named for the connection it provided to the Dogwood Springs trail, Jones said. The business itself looked to provide a bicycle shop that met the growing interest in trails and outdoor activities, Jones said. "But I didn't want to be your typical bike shop," Jones said. "My goal was to sell bikes to people that needed good quality bikes. I wanted them to realize it doesn't have to be over a thousand dollars, but it is an investment." Now located in Signature Plaza, Jones and his team sell Giant brand bicycles, as well as Terra Trikes. While unusual bicycles are more of an attraction to Jones, the stereotypical, two-wheel bi - cycles aren't any less impor- tant. And through the three repair package options Dogwood Junction provides in it's custom-built shop, repairs and other modifica- tions are additional services readily available. The repair shop was paramount when Jones began refining his services, he said. "When a bike needs to be repaired, anytime it sits in my shop it's owner isn't riding it," he said. "I want people out enjoying life." Jones also hosts rides to places like Tulsa and Little Rock. When there's enough interest, a group will gather to ride to the destination in a 12-passenger van and ride the trail for the day. For extended trips, some meals are provided. For riders not yet ready for extensive trail trips but interested in biking, Jones encourages them to visit Dogwood Junction and ex - plore the different facets of biking. Our slogan is "riding so- lutions in motion," Jones said. There are wholesome, economical ways to ride, whether that be comfort biking, mountain biking, commuter biking or triking, Jones said. "As their needs progress, we progress the bike with them." Jones wants to continue to foster that love of biking within the Siloam Springs community, as well as other parts of Northwest Arkansas should opportunities for ex - pansion become available. "I want to be seen as be- ing helpful to people to help them ride," Jones said. "I want cycling for the com- mon guy."
