ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Harold (Hari) Jones is one of the foremost authorities
on the role of African Americans in the Civil War. For
twelve years, he was the assistant director and curator at
the African American Civil War Freedom Foundation and
Museum in Washington, D.C. He serves on the Board of
Directors of the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg.
Pa. Jones has appeared in over 50 television programs and
documentaries and he has worked on exhibits on display
across the country.
on Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, which commemorates the
June 19, 1865 announcement of slavery's abolition in Texas and,
more generally,enslaved African Americans' emancipation.
