The Indiana Gram ΣAE Reflects on Another Successful Little 500 I ndiana Gamma could not be any prouder of how our bike team com- peted in the 68th running of the Indiana University Little 500 this past April. A team of three seniors (Joe Krahulik '18, Sean Marks '18, Ryan Tuffnell '18) and freshman Rob Krahulik '21 finished sixth in the race. In an absolutely flawless performance, Indiana Gamma led during the early stages of the final lap before its competitors boxed Joe in. ΣAE did not sustain a crash for the entirety of the race. This year's race was the fifth consecutive year with a top-10 finish by Indiana Gamma. Our alumni, families, and supporters should be awed by the consistency and excellence of our cycling program. Yet again, ΣAE finished among the top fraternities; only Sigma Phi Epsilon finished ahead. The fraternity formerly known as Delta Tau Delta now races as "JetBlach" and finished fifth. The top six finishers were: 1. Cutters* 2. Gray Goat* 3. Black Key Bulls* 4. Sigma Phi Epsilon 5. JetBlach* 6. Sigma Alpha Epsilon *pure cycling team Unfortunately, the 2018 race marked the final time Joe Krahulik will have worn the Gamma Cycling jersey. Our Chapter is eternally grateful for all that Joe, as well as Ryan and Sean, have done for our cycling team and fraternity. Both Ryan and Joe began training following their sophomore years and developed into leaders on and off the track. We will miss all three dearly, not just as riders, but as brothers and respected members of 1115 N. Jordan Avenue. In the words of Joe Krahulik to the Chapter following the race's comple- tion: "[In my four years] we had four top-five finishes, three All-Stars, two Individual Time Trial titles, one Miss N Out title, a Qualifications Pole, a Rookie of the Year, and likely over 100 laps led. We never pulled out a win, but had an amazing time entertaining these last four years. Let's keep it going." Krahulik also announced that he, along with older brother Andy Kra- hulik '16, will step into coaching roles for the 2018-19 cycling season. With the graduation of three riders, the program now turns over to the youngest Krahulik brother, Rob, who impressed many in his first Little 500 this year. The program remains in good hands as we begin training for the next generation of Gamma Cycling and continue our quest for a third Little 500 title. Anyone interested in joining the program should contact Joe Krahulik at (317) 696-5355. We always like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank our alumni for their continued support. Support from alumni allows us to train as an elite cycling team. Historically and presently, ΣAE is proud to boast one of the most successful teams at Indiana University, and that would not be possible without constant support from the Chapter. Along with success on the track, our brothers enjoyed another Little 500 connect- ing with new and past alumni at the Chapter house, including recently appointed Chapter adviser Nick Carder '12.
