LIBERTY In November
2011, Liberty 714 Master Richard Clapp had the idea of holding a gun raffle to raise money
for charities. Clapp and B & B
Arms came up with 34 guns to
raffle. Tickets were $100 each,
and a maximum of 600 were to
be sold. Average value of each
gun was $600.
One gun was awarded each day in April.
To encourage early sales, an earlybird drawing
awarding a total four guns was held at February
and March stated meetings.
To make things better for the charities, other area lodges were enlisted to sell tickets also.
Lodge Master Jeff Lawver says, We could not
have done it without the help of these lodges.
Together, they were able to sell 426 of the 600
Fleming gets award on birthday
tickets. After paying for the guns, the net for the
Masonic Home for Children and WhiteStone
totaled nearly $21,000.
They plan to repeat the raffle in 2013. They
expect to sell even more tickets, approaching
the 600 ticket limit. Last years buyers will be
reminded about the 2013 raffle. If you would
like to be notified about the drawing next year,
contact Liberty Lodge Master Jeff Lawver at

Andrew Jackson Lodge Master John Hud-
son presented the award. Then Deputy Grand
Master Dewey Preslar Jr., a member of the same
church and lodge, was there for the awarding as
was 28th DDGM Bill Safrit.
