FIJI Jayhawker 2 sorority, we plan on improving upon our first year to create a new and lasting Fiji Islander Week legacy for years to come. I am incredibly proud of our gentlemen of quality, and am excited to see what the next year brings. Our Graduate Brothers are always welcome at the house, so feel free to stop by if you're ever in Lawrence. Fraternally, Keegun C. Gose '19 Chapter President keegun7@gmail.com Perge! Phi Gamma Delta and Gamma Phi Beta won a total of 10 awards at this year's Rock Chalk Revue. Third Time's a Charm (Continued from page 1) "Not For College Days aloNe" riNgs true For Pi DeuteroN's Class oF 1966 As Pi Deuteron wraps up a successful capital campaign, members of the 1966 pledge class reflect upon their time in the Chapter, why they chose to support the campaign, and share their hopes for the future of Fiji at KU. "As a former President of this fine class, I could not be any prouder of the pledge class of 1966 and how we have stuck together for over 50 years. Our class heard a call to help support the Mighty Proud campaign to completely renovate the house at 1540 Louisiana Street, the one that we once called 'home,' and 100% of our living members acted upon it. Our class raised more money than any class has ever raised in the history of the Fraternity. We even received a memorial donation in the name of our Brother and former Chapter President, Bill Henry '66, a generous gift from his wife Vicki and his children. "Since graduation we all make an effort to keep in touch with each other through phone calls, e-mails, and getting together for reunions every five years. We hunt and fish together, and we come together to support each other during difficult times. We will hold another reunion this year, traveling to the city where one of our Brothers is winning a battle with cancer, but cannot be away from his doctors and treatment center yet, so we will go to him. We learned the core values of this Fraternity many years ago: Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality, and Excellence. We live by those values; we are Brothers for life." -John Hondros '66 "Pi Deuteron was the foundation to trying to live a life of character and accomplishment, plus it gave me lifelong friends. It was important for us to give back to the Chapter so many more generations will have the college experience we had. By our 100% class participation, the class of '66 has shown how important Pi Deuteron was to us. Being a Fiji is not for college days alone." -Dale Peel '66 "'Not for College Days Alone.' As an undergraduate, this motto, this phrase, really didn't have much meaning. It probably didn't to my pledge Brothers either. After all, we were up to our ears in 'college days.' What was important was this academic class, this party, this girlfriend, and our fledgling Brotherhood. "But over the last 52 years, the concept of 'Not for College Days Alone' has seemed to grow and mean more with each passing year. Even though we don't see each other as often, the class of 1966 is as close as when we were in the freshman open-air dorm, trying to make grades, competing in intramurals, memorizing hometowns, and playing poker all weekend. "Sure we have memories from Pi Deuteron. But we continue to share in families, current successes, failures, wins, losses, heartbreak, and happiness. These are ties just as strong, or even stronger than we could have expected. Brotherhood is just as alive now as it was then. "We are all extremely proud that our class had the highest participation percentage and raised the most money in the Mighty Proud campaign. The effort had great leadership from Brothers Tuffy Mayor '66 and John Hondros '66. Our entire class knows that the Brotherhood we still cherish started right there in 1962 at 1540 Louisiana." -John Nelson '66
