DDD page 3 Looking to the Future of Delta Xi: Being Brave, Bold, and Kind Members Attend National Collegiate Conference, Continue Fostering Relationship with St. Jude A s my term as president has just begun, I am already truly impressed and grateful to have an amazing group of women serving in leadership positions at Delta Xi, including my executive board, directors, and other members who make great contributions. Collegiate Leadership Conference Last month, Jordyn Sparks '15, Kendall Condict '16, Hayley Ockerhausen '16, Kendall Chase '16, and I attended the Delta Delta Delta Collegiate Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. During the conference, we were inspired by a diverse group of keynote speakers as we learned how we can promote Tri Delta's brand of being brave, bold, and kind. Each officer is ready to bring these qualities back to Columbia, Mo., and apply them through the year. Strong Philanthropic Involvement The women of Delta Xi are passionate about Tri Delta's philanthropy supporting childhood cancer charities. On a national level, Tri Delta is a philanthropic partner with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The weekend of March 9-10, 120 members of Delta Xi toured St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. I know our younger members will return with a stronger love for St. Jude, shared by the upperclassmen. Locally, several of our members helped with the Rally for Rhyan fundraiser at the Mizzou versus Mississippi State basketball game where more than $70,000 was raised for pediatric cancer research. Our chapter is excited about the relationship we have developed with Rhyan and her family and look forward to partnering with them on future fundraising efforts. On March 14, we will be having our Sincerely Yours event. This is when our chapter comes together to send personal letters to family, friends, and alumnae to ask them to partner with Tri Delta in the fight against childhood cancer. This is a wonderful way to incorporate the personal stories each individual member has experienced through our relationship with St. Jude. Chapter Continues Forward To cap off the start to a great year, Delta Xi was thrilled to receive word from Executive Office that we have met all the mutual goals of our probationary period! As we look toward the future, the chapter will continue to focus on developing strong sisterhood foundations and reinforce the importance of lifelong membership and our shared ritual. The message of brave, bold, and kind will be a key theme that we will incorporate not only within Tri Delta and through recruitment, but as we engage with the university and beyond. I want to thank the alumnae and the volunteers that are assigned to our chapter who have strengthened Delta Xi. I also want to thank our members and officers who continue to help this chapter grow and create stronger and more-womanly characters.
