Maxwell Beta Chi Springs Forward into Successful Capital Campaign Positive Response Leads to Increased Campaign Goal W hat a year it has been! The long over- due expansion and modernization of the chapter house is well underway. The journey thus far has produced rekindled friend- ships and many returns to memory lane. This edition of the newsletter is dedicated to updat- ing you on the progress made on both the house project and the capital campaign. Thanks to all of you who have responded to Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future: The New 238 E. Maxwell. Thank you for finding that moment in your collegiate career that touched your mem- ory in a way that inspired your gift; I thank you. Your generosity is humbling and encouraging for those of us actively involved in the project. It also ensures a future generation of Beta Chis the opportunity to create their own memories. If the months leading up to the groundbreaking were hectic—focus group meetings to determine what the chapter wanted and needed, a feasibil- ity study to determine alumnae giving poten- tial, selection of a contractor and an interi- or decorator, fall formal recruitment in the Sigma Chi chapter house, endless forms for the financing, all culminating in the celebra- tion of a groundbreaking ceremony—then the months since can only be considered a mara- thon, and we are only at about mile 13. I am so overwhelmed by our generous donors who are making Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future: The New 238 E. Maxwell a suc- cess. Thanks to their support, we have already reached our campaign goal of $400,000! I am thrilled at the initial response of our alumnae and do not want to stop the momentum short. With a total project cost of $9.4 million, any amount raised reduces the amount of our con- struction debt, and as such we have set our sights on a stretch goal of $600,000. If you want a sneak peek at our brand-new chap- ter house or you just want to reconnect with Beta Chi, attend our Corporate Meeting on June 9 at 10 a.m. All alumni and undergraduate members are welcome! For those of you who have not yet made a con- tribution, I challenge you to find that special memory of sisterhood, that single experience you would want to preserve, and make a dona- tion to Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Fu- ture on behalf of it, knowing that as you honor your memories you are ensuring the creation of countless more. Loyally, Katti Bowling Nash '02 Campaign Chairman katti.nash@gmail.com Chelsie Ackerman '14, Morgan Keeler '15, and Chloe Robertson '14 attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new chapter house.
