DOGWOOD FFESTIVAL 2018 • 15 4 Tires for $ 90 Home of the $ 25 Tire 1024 S. Washington St. Siloam Springs (479) 644-2808 Jesus is our Rock and that's how we Roll! "We look at the craft and product vendors, food vendors and KidZone vendors and say 'let's get a balance here.' So… we have helicopter rides and little trains for small children. This year we have a new and improved KidZone area with two new vendors with different rides for varying ages. They will be all over Bob Henry Park. We want folks to come out and enjoy the new rides. There will still be some of the old standbys there too. We have something for everyone." Hungry? One thing Wayne can say without doubt, people come out for the festival's food. "People want a change," he stressed. "A lot of that revolves around the festival's food. We always want a variety that is different from our local restaurants. We never want to negatively impact our local businesses. We want our vendors to come in from out of town, and out of state, and to bring food that is different from want's available here on a daily basis." Wayne promises that this year's food selection is top-notch. "We have Deep South Concessions," he said. "You can guess what they are going to have… fried golden goodness. We have various vendors that will have buffalo bites and turkey legs and Macho Nachos, Billy Jack Root Beer in refillable bottles, panini pressed Cubano sandwiches… I don't really know what that is, but I'm going to try it out this year. We have kettle corn and pork rinds, chocolate chip cheese cake, loaded grilled potatoes. Ultimate Curly Fries, Cajun fried pickles, Shucking Delicious Roasted Corn and soft serve ice cream. These are things that you don't normally go down to a restaurant and order." Some say it's OK to toss dietary caution to the wind and enjoy what the Dogwood Festival has to offer. After all, it's not every day you can grab a turkey leg, a funnel cake and a tall glass of lemonade for dinner. "Maybe some of it isn't extremely healthy," he joked. "We are not saying that people should eat that way every day, but once a year come down to the festival and indulge in different kinds of food. We know you will like it." Cherry topped funnel cake is a festival staple.
