3 www.texaspikes.com P ike alumni are a generous sort, supporting both Beta Mu Pike and the Uni- versity of Texas. A number of Pikes are giving back to UT Austin and the UT System by serving on advisory boards within the colleges, volunteering with Texas Exes, and financially supporting their alma mater. e executive committee of the UT System Chancellors Council (CCEC) is a com- mitted donor group of UT alumni from each of the UT institutions supporting the esteemed leadership of Chancellor Bill McRaven. e CCEC numbers 300, each person serving a three-year term. An impressive 21 UT Pike alumni (and spouses) are members of CCEC presently. e 2018 CCEC chairman is our very own John Rathmell '76, who presided over the organization's winter meeting in San Antonio on January 19 and 20, with the help of his wife, Peggy. Johnny is also chairing the Centennial Campaign for Texas Pikes, our new fraternity house initiative that is progressing well. "e University of Texas and Pi Kappa Alpha are two of the most important institutions in my life, and it's a pleasure to give whatever I can back to both organizations. e Chancellors Council provides a great deal of support to the UT System, which is a mammoth, influential university system doing much good for our state. e UT campuses and medical schools go well beyond educating college students and minting graduates, but also importantly addressing other challenges facing the state such as advancing health care research and addressing future water needs. It's great to have so many Pikes represented in this group, as well volunteering on other boards and engaged in other alumni activities on e 40 Acres as well," Johnny said. Another Pike, Dr. Frank Alexander '70, helmed the CCEC several years ago as well.
