We will having a special day set aside for first responders by next spring and are hoping to have this area completed by then so we can have a big celebration to honor those who put their lives on the line for us every day. We are also looking for a couple of guys with grills who can come out to the park that day and cook burgers and hot dogs for us. Please call Joanne at 927-6551 if you are available to volunteer to cook or to help serve at this event. Hope to see you there! U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) proposes a multi-purpose release water from Alamo Dam in order to facilitate required maintenance ac- tivities.. The proposed flushing flow release would occur as a flood pulse hydrograph designed to mimic a typical rain event in the downstream wa- tershed released with appropriate seasonal timing. Alamo Dam is located on the Bill Williams River (BWR), 39 miles (62.8 Corps to release water from Alamo Dam km) upstream from the Colorado River at Lake Havasu The dam is on the border of La Paz and Mo- have Counties in Arizona. Main access to the dam is from the town of Wenden on US Highway 60, ap- proximately 36 miles to the south. The Peace Trail crosses the Project Area in two places, one just west of Planet Ranch and the second in the Swansea vicinity. At these two loca- tions, the Peace Trail has low-water crossings across the Bill Williams River. A detour Off Road route from Lake Havasu City to Quartzite is posted on their website arizonapeacetrail.org. The release schedule is as follows: 1) The release will begin on March 12, 2018. 2) Ascending limb of the hydro- graph will be moderate. 3) Maximum release will not ex- ceed 5,000 cfs. The maximum re- lease will not occur for more than 12 hours and will begin starting the evening of March 14. 4) Descending limb of the hydro- graph will initially drop steeply, followed by a gradual return to base flow. 5) The release will end on April 1, 2018. 6) The final target elevation of the lake is 1100 ft. The Corps can be reached for questions or concerns regard- ing Alamo Dam via email at: AlamoDamSPL@usace.army.mil
