The show is coming up Friday thru Sunday, February 9-11 at the Quartzsite Improvement Association (QIA) located at 235 E. Ironwood. Hours of the show are 9 am to 4 pm (3pm on Sunday) at the QIA with daily prizes of gold nuggets, prospecting supplies and more. $5 entrance good for all 3 days. Corporate sponsor this year is Tesoro Metal Detectors. Dr. Eric Melchi- orre will be autographing the Quartzsite Gold Atlas Volume #3 which covers gold prospecting. The speaker's bureau will have some new twists includ- ing a round table by the experts from all over the country to answer your questions. Back by popular demand, the local 4-H kids will be running their Desert Duck Race Fundraiser daily. There are new gold vendors coming from Colorado and Las Vegas! Jim Walkington will teach how to snake proof your dog Saturday, by ap- pointment only. Linda Marie's will be offering 24 Kt. Gold Facials. New this year: Smelting Gold in the parking lot! Desert Flyers Fun Fly February 9 The Quartzsite Desert Flyers ra- dio controlled aircraft Fun Fly will be held on Friday February 9, 2018. It will be held at the James B. Colwell Field, 780 N. Plymouth Ave. in Quartzsite. The opening ceremo- nies are scheduled to commence at 9:00 am with the playing of the na- tional anthem and a fl y-past salute to the Stars and Stripes. Everyone is welcome; all that is needed is an in- terest in radio controlled fl ying. We are expecting fi ve or six profes- sional and semi-pro fl yers from Cal- ifornia, Idaho and British Colum- bia as well as local fl yers from our club and from clubs in Yuma, Lake Havasu City and Phoenix. Specta- tors are welcome to bring their own chairs or can take advantage of the spectator stands. Some exciting updates: We have extended the hours to a 6 hour show instead of 3 hours in the past, show time 9:00AM - 3:00PM and the VFW will be serving food throughout the whole show start- ing with breakfast then burgers, hot dogs, fries, drinks etc. for an afford- able price. The VFW will also have on site a brand new Side x Side that you can purchase raffl e tickets for the March drawing. When our parking lot fi lls up, we have a free shuttle service to help get people back and forth between their vehicles and the fi eld.
