I 32|June/July • 2009 tÕ s hard to believe now, but this busy strip of Raeford Road once was farmland that belonged to John TallyÕ s grandfather. In 1963, the Tally family built what is known today as Tallywood Shopping Center, home to 32 businesses in a convenient walk-in plaza near the intersection of McPherson Church Road. The Mill End moved here from across Raeford Road in 1996. Now, it has the best selection of name-brand fabrics and upholstery products in the area with a custom home touch and design, featuring such lines as Duralee, Kravat and Fabricut. Castle Uniforms specializes in clothing and accessories for medical, dental and culinary professionals. It features shoes that are fashionable yet functional, transitioning from work to play. Brands include Sanita, Dansko and Alegria. Dressing Professionals for Respect is the storeÕs motto. Speaking of shoes, customers have been getting shoes repaired by Kathy Schwarz at KathyÕ s Shoe Repair for 23 years. KathyÕ s now features a large line of leather products found nowhere else in Fayetteville. You name it: luggage, jackets, briefcases, purses, computer bags and backpacks, all in leather. The only complete school supplies resource around is School Tools. The store provides educational resources to both teachers and students. Teacher training enhancement products add new ideas to every classroom. A Ò Back to SchoolÓ s pecial starts July 13.
