Yes, there were surely some grand moments such as births, graduations, marriages, reunions, retirements and even deaths that will fi ll our memories, but what made those oc- casions so special are the thousands of little moments leading up to them. The re- ality is that our lives are made up of small moments of time and it is the compilation of those moments that make our life spe- cial. We are all guilty of underestimating the processes that lead to certain events. For example, a young person who graduates from school did not just wake up one day and graduate. He or she invested much time and energy on a day by day basis that led them to the day of graduation. Whether it be the beginning or the end- ing of something we must be committed to the small tasks which will add meaning to each event. Perhaps you have heard the phrase about someone who has died, "They preached their own funeral by the way they lived." It is another way of saying that the deceased person lived well during the little moments of their life. We should all take an inventory of our life to see how we are doing with the opportunities of life. Are we letting our life slip away or are we expressing our faith, our love, our dedi- cation and our kindness to those around us? Take care of the little moments and the big moments will take care of them- selves.
