Ironwood St., Quartzsite Sweet Pie documentary pre-orders New Documentary Film on the life and music of Paul Winer By Justin Bouchard In October, I started production on my most ambitious documentary film to date "Sweet Pie: The Paul Winer Story." My road to docu- mentary filmmaking began with radio during college when I pro- duced programs on the history of jazz music. Using my background and expertise in audio produc- tion, music history and copyright law, I eventually produced my first documentary film while liv- ing in Hawaii, a 31-part, 47-hour series on the history and evolution of popular music: "Highlights of 20th Century Music." A few of the episodes even received an airing on Akaku Media, Maui County's public access cable channel. An Old Days Production, "Sweet Pie: The Paul Winer Story" is an epic, once in a lifetime documen- tary film that tells the unique life story of the legendary boogie- woogie blues naked pianist. Film- maker Justin Bouchard documents Winer's life from the perspective of his own words, music, poetry, pho- tographs along with exclusive foot- age recorded for this project. Along the way, you will learn about the musical icons that helped shaped his trademark blues style, how he developed and eventually became Sweet Pie, the 68 landmark First Amendment court cases he fought and won, the famous people he met, Reader's Oasis Books and his comeback concerts reappearing as Sweet Pie. All in all, this is a once in a lifetime film you do not want to miss! Pre-orders for a pre-pre- miere, limited edition DVD copy of "Sweet Pie: The Paul Winer Story" are currently being taken.
