The Quartzsite Historical Society continues to add to our Museum Col- lection. Recently an ornate kerosene hanging lamp, purportedly from a saloon, was donated and has been hung in the Museum. We are always seeking donations which help document or illustrate the Quartzsite Area's past. We encourage visitors to come see what is new each year. Trivia Question of the week: What was the original purpose for the build- ing currently housing the Museum? For the answer, stop by the Museum (no phone calls please!) Operating a Museum is an endless job, with our volunteers cleaning exhibits, inventorying our property, doing computer input of our records, doing general offi ce work, and special projects, acting as docents greet- ing the public and conducting tours, researching additional information regarding Quartzsite and generally maintaining the property. One project for this year is spraying the large cactus skeleton with preservative. Any- one interested in helping with our projects is encouraged to contact us. Even a few hours a week makes a big difference! We have a variety of books relating to Quartzsite for sale. We are continu- ing to recycle plastic, aluminum and glass, which can be dropped off any time at our front gate collection can. We are a non-profi t historical society. Visiting the Museum is free, al- though donations are always welcome. The Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 4 pm. We are located at 161 Main Street (park- ing in rear).
