P si of Sigma Chi had a very successful 2017 fall semester. Our Chapter upheld all the requirements of the Jordan Standard by maintaining excellent grades, participating in many forms of philanthropy, dedicating ourselves to recruitment, and maintaining a great relationship with our Alumni. The Brotherhood was able to maintain one of the highest GPAs in the IFC and Greek community overall, as each of us has been actively seeking new ways to excel as a student. Within our House, there is a great sense of dedication and motivation toward our academics, with each Brother inspiring another to put maximum effort into his studies. Our Derby Days philanthropy raised $21,000 in the spring for the Children's Miracle Network, one of the most successful fraternal philanthropic efforts on Grounds. We not only provide money to the Children's Miracle Network but also time and effort. Our philanthropy chairmen, Jack Jeffrey '18 and Martin Knauf '19, organized hospital tours and an event at Jump C'Ville with the Miracle children to develop a deep connection and relationship with these kids. Yet this was not the only way Brothers gave back to the community, as the Brotherhood continued their support for other Greek organizations. For example, we had the most participation in Alpha Phi's Thankful 5K and Zeta's Big Man On Grounds Philanthropies. SIGMA CHI MAINTAINS HIGH GPA Derby Days Raises $21,000 Philanthropy chairmen and members from the winning Delta Gamma sorority donating our Derby Days check to a representative from the Children's Miracle Network. The entire Brotherhood on Bid Day. The Psi Chapter also has several Brothers holding leadership positions within UVA, including organizations such as Madison House, Interfraternity Council – Judiciary Committee, One Goal, Pancakes for Parkinson's, Camp Kesem, One in Four, and many others. We also excel in athletics as the Brotherhood won the Intramural fraternity championship for basketball and Drew Lakey '19 walked on to the UVA varsity basketball team. Throughout the semester, we hosted several successful Alumni and parent events. In October, we hosted our annual Dads' Weekend, where we played golf and went to a UVA football game. A couple of weeks later, we hosted a party at the Chapter House for Homecoming weekend in which Alumni were able to see the new addition to the House and have a great time with Psis across multiple generations. The Psi Chapter is truly reaping the benefits of all the hard work and money put into the new addition to the Chapter House. Formal chapter meetings and rush voting sessions take place in the new Chapter Room, along with informal study sessions and gatherings to watch a game. Our House is the talk of the grounds and is an honor to live in. The active Brotherhood would again like to thank all our Alumni for their support and look forward to seeing each one of you at the Chapter House in the near future.
