The Quartzsite Desert Flyers (the radio controlled fl ying club) is starting its 12th season in Quartzsite this year. We welcome back all experienced, new fl yers and spectators to another season of fl ying and camaraderie. The club has a membership of 100 fl yers of all levels: from beginner to the most advanced. We meet daily, each morning, weather permitting at the James B. Colwell Field, 780 North Plymouth Road. There we have a 500 foot paved runway complete with a "cross runway" to more easily fl y with the northwest winds we frequently get here. We have four fl ight stations and 15 outside work stations and a solid covered shelter to work in out of the wind, all on carpet to keep the dust down. Our monthly business meeting is held the second Wednesday of every month at Jimmy's hangar, 1365 Datig Drive at 9:00 am. Membership fees are $10.00 and a membership in the A.M.A. (Academy of Model Aero- nautics). If you have any interest in fl ying, or wish to learn how to fl y, or to be a spectator and just talk to the pilots feel free to join us. Please don't be shy.
