Epsilon Beta Chapter 4 WHAT HAVE EPSILON BETAS BEEN UP TO? T his semester at Epsilon Beta has been busy and exciting! Our first week was spent getting ready for fall recruitment. We hosted Kool off with Kappa, where we handed out popsicles on campus and talk- ed with potential new members to encourage them to join Kappa. We wore our letters proudly and are so excited about the new members who have joined our chapter! We also had a leadership consultant come help us with the process and we have so much planned for our new member class. We recently celebrated Dad's Day at the house and welcomed all of our dads with a tour and a food truck. We have several events planned for the rest of the fall, including an active and new member sisterhood, a scholar dinner, a date dash, and more! We can't wait for all of the excit- ing events and all the goals we have set to accomplish! Our amazing recruitment banner hung high at the house from Saturday to Monday. Our beautiful front entry with our Kappa Karnival banner. Our new members at one of the photo stations at the house! Epsilon Beta Makes a Difference Kappa's Involvement on and off Campus Continues to Strengthen Chapter E psilon Beta has had an incredible year so far and we can't wait for all that lies ahead. The new chapter council started the year off by having a retreat with the purpose of bonding as a unit and making plans for leading the chapter in 2017. Chapter council is focused on raising morale in the chapter and continuing our focus on academics and sisterhood. Early in the year a yoga sisterhood event was held at the house to calm the nerves of all our sisters as we headed into the semester. This event set a precedent for our mindset for the semester, closeness in the chapter, and a united focus on why we are here. $7,000 Raised for Scholarship We had a very productive spring semester in our efforts toward philanthropy. During mid- February, we initiated a fundraiser called Kappa Kandy Grams, selling bags of candy to support Operation Gratitude. The money raised went toward care packages being sent to U.S. Troops overseas and we were so excited to be able to contribute to the men and women serving our country. Our major event for the semester was Kickin' It With Kappa, a soccer tournament to raise funds toward the Catie Abeyta Scholarship. The event was very successful, raising about $7,000 and continuing to honor Catie's legacy at Colorado State. We were also lucky enough to participate in community service through Girls Academy. With Girls Academy, Kappas were able to mentor young girls from Lesher Middle School by talking about different topics relating to self- image, personal growth, and empowerment. It was really rewarding for us to be able to inspire and advise these girls on what we have learned and how we have grown as women. Chapter Activities We've had several new and exciting events this semester at Epsilon Beta. Academically, we've hosted a scholar dinner where we celebrated the accomplishments of 56 scholars. We have also been promoting our opportunity for study hours and established Owl Pals, which matches sisters based on their major. In addition, we've had many fun events that have increased membership participation. Finally, we are so excited to welcome 75 new members into our sisterhood. All women have proven to be valuable assets and we can't wait to see where Kappa takes them. As the academic year ended, we were sad to say goodbye to our beloved seniors, but it has been exciting seeing where there path takes them. Alumnae, thank you for all of your support as Epsilon Beta enters this exciting stage. We know this will impact generations to come. Loyally, Natalie Anzivino '15 Corresponding Secretary
