SADIE HAWKINS DANCE On Wednesday, November 15th at Brenda RV (Dog patch) Resort, we are holding a Sadie Hawkins Dance from 7 to 9 p.m. to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Li'l Abner tradition. We will be dancing to "Skyhawk." You may have danced to Skyhawk at the senior center or at the QIA in past seasons. On November 15th, 1937, Al Capp brought this American folk event to light in his Li'l Abner strip. "Sadie Hawkins was "the homeliest gal in the hills" who grew tired of waiting for the fellows to come a courtin'. On Satie Hawkins day, unmarried gals pursued the town's bachelors, with matrimony the consequence." Nowadays, it is an excuse to dress like some of our favorite Li'l Ab- ner characters, ask someone to the dance, and just have a good time. Matrimony? Well… who knows. Tickets are $5 at the door.
