Community Involvement C ommunity service has become a focal point for the Purdue Greek community. Each year, Purdue's Greek community raises thousands of dollars and volunteers thousands of hours in support of various charitable causes. AGR is no exception and takes pride in the ability to give back to the neighboring communities. Each spring, the chapter hosts Sandy Slam, an event that raises money for testicular cancer research. Greek houses from all over campus participate. In the spring of 2017, the chapter raised $500 from Sandy Slam. Additionally, the chapter raised $10,000 to donate to various philanthropies around campus. is year, the chapter donated to and walked in the Light the Night Walk to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Lafayette. Each year, the chapter participates in the Adopt-a-Highway campaign to ensure Indiana's highways remain clean and safe for travelers. e chapter contributed over 500 volunteer hours during the 2016-17 school year, not including Greek philanthropy participation. Our House O ur chapter house at 607 University was rebuilt in 1987 and aer 30 years is starting to show its age. Our house undoubtedly plays a significant role as a living and learning center and as a proud symbol of our shared values and goals. We must renovate our house, not only to serve the immediate needs of our current undergraduates but to provide a first-class facility for future Delta brothers and to stay competitive with other fraternities and on-campus living facilities at Purdue. e renovation of the chapter house will also ensure its integrity and our legacy on University Ave. Our Future Over the last few years, the Delta Chapter Corporation Board has been assessing the needs of a modern facility at Purdue. e realities of today's undergraduate life were considered, as well as renovations that other fraternities have completed to upgrade their chapter facilities and management. It has become clear that we must make a major investment in our chapter house if we are to provide a beneficial educational experience and an up-to-date facility that will serve young college men in the 21st century. Pursuing Excellence Purdue University is as academically challenging as ever and the need for an enhanced and comfortable study space within our facility is necessary for our members to achieve. We have all seen the impact of technology over the years, as devices not present during your college years are now necessities, including personal computers, high-speed internet access, and e-mail. Our plan will ensure that AGR excels academically and remains scholastic leaders on campus and within the Greek system. In the spring of 2016, AGR ranked third among fraternities on campus with a 3.12 cumulative GPA. Value and Competition Today, students and their parents expect more for their housing dollars. Students are faced with a number of living options, ranging from on-campus residence halls that provide internet and air-conditioning to apartment complexes that offer fitness centers and covered parking. Additionally, several other fraternities on campus, including FarmHouse, have either renovated or built new facilities. ese options can draw our older and prospective members away from the chapter house. While we do not intend to provide all of the amenities that residence halls and apartments offer, we must present a safe, attractive facility. Our Challenges
