Sigma Omicron SPOTLIGHT ON A special building campaign newsle er for Kappa Delta at the University of Illinois Fall 2017 GROUNDBREAKING BEGINS A NEW CHAPTER FOR SIGMA OMICRON We Encourage You to Plan a Visit to Campus and Make a Pledge Today O n August 19, Sigma Omicron sisters and members of the House Corporation joined for a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of our new home. In the coming weeks and months, the foundation of 110 East Armory will go up, and a new chapter in our long history at U of I will begin. Even as our physical home changes, the sisterhood that it houses remains our most important asset, which we are striving to protect and cultivate for the generations to come. Over the next year, our undergraduate sisters will continue living in the chapter house at 1204 S. Lincoln Avenue. As of now, we anticipate members will be able to move into the new chapter house before school begins next year. We hope you will plan to join us for a grand opening ceremony in October 2018 to celebrate this new beginning. More details on that event will be announced in future issues of the Spotlight on Sigma Omicron newsletter, and via e-mail as the plans are finalized. But before we close this chapter in Sigma Omicron's history, we invite you to plan a visit to 1204 S. Lincoln. If you have not returned to campus recently, we encourage you to think about planning a trip. This would be a wonderful year to gather with your pledge sisters and visit the chapter house for the last time. Or if you find yourself on campus for another reason, you can email Cheryl Sizer, Illinois State University '80 at csizerkd@ gmail.com or Abby Tesdall '92 at abby.tesdall@ gmail.com to schedule a trip through the chapter house. And while goodbyes are never easy, we can be confident that this new chapter house will provide a safe, modern, and competitive facility to ensure Sigma Omicron's future. To date, the campaign has received more than $464,000 in contributions and pledges from 82 donors. Today we ask that you join those sisters and show your support for the next chapter of Sigma Omircon's future. All contributions are made to the Kappa Delta Foundation and, therefore, are eligible for a tax deduction. Pledges may be stretched over a five-year period, and all donors contributing a minimum of $2,500 can take pride in knowing their name will be engraved on a plaque prominently displayed in the chapter house. Participating in this campaign is a great way to give back just a little of what the Kappa Delta experience gave to you. Your pledge will show your continued commitment to our undergraduate sisters, fellow alumnae, and the promises you made at your initiation into our beloved sorority.
