CityViewNC.com | 67 M I L I T A R Y S U P P O R T Coming Soon: New Therapeutic Retreat Facility for Service Members and Their Families Who are Living with the Invisible Wounds of Combat and Military Service. Mission: Lone Survivor Foundation restores, empowers, and renews hope for service members and their families through health, wellness, and therapeutic support. Post-Traumatic Stress, Chronic Pain, Traumatic Brain Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, and Care Partner Stress may not be outwardly visible, but for those affected, these "invisible wounds" reduce quality of life and, in some cases, can become debilitating. Due to the complexity of these invisible wounds and their emotional implications, not all individuals respond to the standard government treatment plan of talk therapy and medication. Lone Survivor Foundation offers another option. The Foundation provides a succession of no-cost therapeutic retreats to service members, both active duty and veterans, and their families. Our retreats and associated travel expenses are provided free of charge, so that help is available to everyone who needs it. Our retreat program is designed to provide education, stress reduction, and coping skills that can be put into practice immediately, as well as to expose the participants to several cutting-edge modalities proven highly effective in the treatment of invisible wounds. We are excited to announce that we are breaking ground on a therapeutic retreat facility in the greater Fayetteville area. The 10,000 square foot facility has been designed to suit the needs of all of the LSF retreat types (Individuals, Couples, and Families), and can sleep up to 9 individuals; 6 couples; or 4 families, along with staff. Once completed, the facility will initially host 15-20 retreats each year, though it may eventually hold as many as 50 retreats annually. Selecting Cumberland County as the site for this new facility was a well-researched effort. We were seeking a location with a population that would be 100% behind the project; where the facility would be seen as part of the community, and the services that would be provided there as something that everyone in the community could be proud of. We believe that the Fayetteville/Cumberland County area is that community. We need your support to make this retreat facility a reality. We are asking the people and organizations of Cumberland County and the surrounding communities to help in the construction of this facility through financial and in-kind support. The estimated cost for this facility is $1.5 million. Our goal is to raise $500,000 in cash and $1,000,000 in non-cash donations of materials, equipment, furnishings, and labor. Naming opportunities and capital sponsorships are available, as well as donation opportunities and memorial bricks on the facility's legacy brick walk. Please join us in making this vision a reality.
