Carmel Community, the pinnacle of senior living e Bentonville community opens in October This October Mt. Carmel Commu- nity will open our second state-of-the- art assisted living, memory care and independent living cottage commu- nity in Bentonville. It is located at the intersection of Southwest Regional Airport Boulevard and Greenhouse Road. Inside our spacious facility you'll find an attractive lobby, main and private dining rooms, movie theater, and several inviting indoor sitting areas. Courtyards with walking paths and outdoor porches complete the common areas that make up our resi- dential community. The 76 apartments include furnished kitchenettes, indi- vidually controlled thermostats and spacious private restrooms; many have walk-in closets and separate living and bedroom areas. Whether you are looking for assisted living apartments, memory care for the special needs of Alzheimer's or demen- tia, or the security and peace of mind by living in an independent living cottage within our gated community, we can meet your needs. Our staff can help you better understand your long- term care insurance and veterans aid and assistance benefits. Selecting a senior living residence is much like choosing any new place to live, with location, cost and amenities being pertinent considerations. Many seniors are adamant that they want a facility close to where they have always lived. Family members often want their loved ones to move to a facility near them so they can visit more. Often times, the continuation of care offered at one location is also a consideration. For example, Mt. Carmel Community in Bentonville (and Rogers) offers in- dependent living, assisted living and memory care options at the same con- venient location. Naturally, everyone is concerned with the cost of senior housing op- tions. When comparing the cost of various facilities, it is important to fully understand all the costs (along with the services and amenities). Also, in some cases a "buy-in" contract is required while other facilities may only collect a deposit with a month-to- month lease. Be sure you understand the "bottom line" when financial ar- rangements are being discussed. Do your research to see if you qualify for veterans aid and assistance and realize that most long-term care insurance companies provide assistance to li- censed assisted living facilities. One of the biggest mistakes a senior or their family makes is waiting too long to make the decision to search out an appropriate senior living facil- ity. Consider making the move while you're still relatively active and can en- joy the freedom and amenities offered. Finding the right level of care, location and senior facility is as big of a decision as purchasing a home. Making that de- cision, before you absolutely have to, is less stressful and can even be exciting, with the right attitude and outlook. Isn't that the way it is in all things? When selecting a senior living com- munity, make sure you understand what services and amenities are pro- vided. A well-rounded assisted living facility will provide amenities that go far beyond just providing meals. Housekeeping is also usually included. Flat linen service, which includes your bed linens and towels, and laundry op- tions are another amenity to explore. Transportation to the doctor, shopping center, church and other destinations have become common. Assisted living facilities often have beauty salons, exercise rooms, media rooms, private dining rooms, sitting areas, libraries and computer stations. A vibrant ac- tivity schedule is also important when considering senior living options. Activities that encourage both physi- cal and mental stimulation as well as social opportunities are invaluable in helping a new resident feel at home in their new environment. Keep in mind that assisted living provides less exten- sive nursing care than a skilled nursing facility. The care department in most assisted living communities provides assistance with the activities of daily living and medication management. Assisted living apartments are the backbone of Mt. Carmel Community. There are several floor plans and siz- es from which to choose. Several of our residents have chosen to create a "suite" for a more spacious living op- portunity. Come see what all we offer at this level of care. Our Memory Care Department is called Elijah's Place. If your loved one has more severe dementia or PAID CONTENT See MT. CARMEL on Page 6C
