Box 442100 Lawrence, KS 66044-2100 Address Service Requested Undergraduates Thankful for New Chapter Room Sigma Chi Gears up for Another Successful Year T he Psi Chapter of Sigma Chi is looking forward to the start of the 2017-18 school year at the University of Virginia. Our Brotherhood has consistently been involved within the UVA community in many capacities, from leadership to volunteer service to numerous other clubs and organizations. Following the completion and dedication of the new Chapter Room, our members are grateful and excited to begin the year with a terrific new space for studying and conducting important chapter meetings and a new room and terrace for social events. We are also excited to welcome back many Alumni in the fall when they return for reunions to see the complete renovations. We were fortunate to have Brothers attend the 81st Grand Chapter and Balfour Leadership Training Workshop this summer, and we look forward to learning from their profound experiences. Several brothers were able to increase their worldly perspectives this summer, as they had the opportunities to visit and study in other cities including Sydney, London, and Tel Aviv. Many more Brothers furthered their academic pursuits by accepting internships and jobs across the country in places such as Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., and Orlando. The Psi Chapter intends to continue and strengthen our longstanding commitment to academic success this coming semester. Thirty-one actives, alumni, and assorted ringers teed-up at the Psi of Sigma Chi dedication scramble at Stoney Creek Golf and Country Club on Friday, April 28. Two foursomes emerged victorious at 6-under par. The actives team of Jack Jeffrey '18. Numerous Brothers were accepted into the McIntire School of Commerce and the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. Several Brothers intend to complete their bachelor's degrees ahead of schedule and begin working towards their master's degrees early. Apart from extracurricular activities, Brothers of the Psi Chapter hold leadership positions and maintain significant involvement in the UVA community. Sigma Chi Brothers dedicate their time to Pancakes for Parkinson's, Seeds of Hope, One Goal, Homers for 'Hoos, Camp Kesem, IFC-JC, Honor, and many other organizations that help to positively impact the lives of others. In the spring of 2017, we were able to raise over $21,000 during Derby Days for the UVA Children's Hospital, and we hope to continue growing that number each year. We support and participate in many other Greek philanthropies, such as the Alpha Phi Thankful 5K, where the Psi Chapter has twice in a row been given recognition for the strongest participation in the event. We hope to continue the Psi Chapter's long tradition of serving and enhancing the Charlottesville and UVA communities through this year and into the future.
