Walton '51 passed on to Chapter Eternal on October 22, 2016. He was 87 years old. He was born in Kaw City, Okla., and raised in Ponca City. John graduated with a degree in architecture in 1953. He and his wife, Margaret (Stanley), were married that same year and relocated to Tulsa in 1954, where John started his apprenticeship and 60-year private practice as an architect. In 1990, Walton was listed in Southern Living magazine as one of 25 southern architects recognized for their work in historic preservation. Following his retirement, John wrote and published 14 books on historic homes and architects. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Wauhillau Outing Club, American Institute of Architects, and Sons of the American Revolution. John was preceded in death by one son, Brooks, and two sisters. He is survived by Margaret; their five children, Ann, Stan, Jane, Sue, and Jean; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Brother Shane Pate Named Arkoma Region President S . Shane Pate II '00 was appointed by the Supreme Council to serve as the Arkoma region president of Pi Kappa Alpha. Regional presidents are charged with recruiting and supporting Pi Kappa Alpha's alumnus volunteers/chapter advisors, house corporation officers, and alumni association leaders. They are charged with facilitating positive communication among volunteers in the region as a way to spread best practices and help volunteers deal with issues. Shane has served Gamma Chi Chapter in numerous capacities, including undergraduate chapter president, Alumni Association president, House Corporation vice president, chapter advisor, and operations advisor on the alumni advisory board. He was awarded one of the inaugural Young Alumnus of the Year awards at the 2016 International Convention. Shane is the new city manager for the City of Nichols Hills, a suburb of Oklahoma City. Since 2010, he has been associated with the law firm of Williams, Box, Forshee & Bullard, during which his practice focused on real property, state and local government law, and serving as an attorney for the City of Nichols Hills. Since 2012, Shane has served as an officer on the Oklahoma Employee Insurance and Benefits Board. Previously, he was a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America. Congratulations, Brother Pate!
